about
Billie Holiday is the greatest, the greatest, the greatest. I am not worthy to sing any of her songs, but at 3 in the morning after not quite having the time to finish a fight that was started, it felt like singing this song was a small present to myself. Erhd had no cymbals, Chris was stuck on the other side of London with no money and I felt like playing 3 chords over and over again, so this is what came out, our most humble attempt at being in love with someone who is way too good for us. Billie Holiday is one of what I call my singing Holy Trinity. The other two are Elliott Smith and Chan Marshall. What I love about Billie is that she did not give a shit. She just sang it how she felt it. I hope her and Elliott are getting it on in heaven. Iva XO
lyrics
Hush now
Don't explain
You're the cause of all my joy and pain
Unless you're crazy don't explain
Unless you feel hazy don't explain
Cry cry cry cry cry to hear people chatter
And I know, I know you cheat
It doesn't matter
When you're with me it's sweet
When you're with me I know you feel complete
Hush now my love my love my love
Don't explain
Just say you'll remain
Take my clothes off
Don't explain
Smudge my lipstick
Don't explain
I said be quiet
Don't explain
You're the cause of all my passion and pain
Unless you wanna ache like I do
Don't explain
Unless you wanna hurt like I do
Don't explain
It's your time to bleed
My time to explain
Your time to see
My time to gain
All my thoughts were clear
I was so sincere
I was so completely yours
